I absolutely adore Ds1's knitted romper, you can see why here
could anyone make me a couple if I obviously cover wool, postage etc?
I know it's an ask but I cant find any anywhere and they are so good under rainsuit/for camping etc.
I can just about manage to sew the buttons on

xx

LadyOTF, that is gorgeous!

I have a knitting machine, bought it in the summer, but haven't had it out and used it yet Also I think that your romper is made on a finer machine than the one I have (mine is a chunky knitter, suitable for dk or cotton).

If you don't get any other offers I would make you a couple once I've got my machine up and running (obviously I would have a practice first!)

NotQuiteCockney · 06/11/2006 20:06

I don't think there are a lot of machine knitters on here.

Have you considered getting a fleecy suit? That would do the same job, and probably be cheaper?

NotQuiteCockney · 06/11/2006 20:09

Oh, the other option is (I think?) that you could buy some appropriate knitted fabric, and get one sewn up for you? Again, also cheaper than getting it knit specially ... Have a look in your local fabric store to see if you can find anything that would work, and any decent seamstress could make a copy of the existing romper. Ok, you wouldn't end up with the lovely ribbed neckline and button placket (is that the word?), but it's essentially four pieces of fabric sewn together, isn't it?

cheers miaou!
i didnt think of trying to find some ready knitted bits to sew together.
my dad got this one for me ages ago. i think he found it in a charity shop. hand knitted is just not the same!!
will have a quick gander in fabric shop on ebay a sec...

No no, handknitted wouldn't be the same at all.

I've seen similar in Gap, but not exactly the same tbh. What size is your DS?

MrsForgetful · 06/11/2006 23:38

my mum is a fantastic knitter...machine and hand... i will show her....she made loads like this for my sons!! I loved them too!!!!

she is so fussy when she sews them up too....you can never see her sewing!!!!

I'm seeing her thursday...i'll let you know!

LadyOfTheFlowers · 07/11/2006 07:47

oh mrs forgetful that would be so brilliant!!
i will pay her of course. i love them so much.
they are so cute nothing else compares!
the one pictured is the only one i have and it is just getting too small. i say just, it is about 2 inches too short in the leg now and a bit of a squeeze lengthways in the body!
he keeps bringing it to me to put on, which he did in the picture- he was already dressed!
