I am knitting a scarf for a charity project. I have been sent the yarn which is a mahoosive ball of very thick American yarn.
It says to use 5mm needles.
The scarf I am knitting needs to be 15cm wide. The tension square info on the wool says 16 stitches will give a square 10cm wide. So I cast on 24 stitches but that only gives me 12 cm.
I'm thinking I probably need to cast on 30 stitiches.
How many rows do you reckon I need to knit to get an accurate idea of width?
