Embroidering a patch for a denim jacket...

My amateur knowledge suggests that I can embroider straight onto white felt using normal embroidery thread. Would I need to use stabiliser as well? If so, do I attach the stabiliser to the felt first and stitch through both layers?

Thanks Smile

Depending on how densely you want to embroider, I would think the felt should be stable enough. Take a sample of the felt and pull it around a bit - as long as it doesn't stretch much or go thin anywhere, it should be fine. If you want to be extra sure (or if you are planning on washing the jacket a lot), I would add the stabiliser (iron-on interfacing) after you've finished embroidering - otherwise you are going to have an achey hand potentially, after pushing through a layer of glue with your needle for every stitch!
