Cross stitch or crewel work kit.
I do a lot of things, knit, sew by hand and machine, embroidery, weaving.
My artistic talents are zero, positively zero. I am a perfectionist and very good at following instructions so I can follow a sewing pattern and make something beautiful, same with cross stitch and anything else - with instructions.
My imagination is severely lacking, always has been. In fact I read some old school reports recently. Even at aged 8 my teacher wrote "lavender's artistic endeavours have not been terribly successful"
.
No change at all, but I can make lovely things, I just use books and/or patterns and/or kits.
I am a mathematician, I see a sewing pattern as a geometry puzzle.
I like knitting but find it so slow compared to sewing. I weave and hand sew.
You just need something with instructions to follow to begin with, once you have narrowed down your options to something that you actually want to do.
