Selling home made edibles!

Dear Arts and Crafters!

I wonder if any of you can help. I am thinking of selling home made edibles at my children's school table top sale. I have never sold at such a sale before and never ever sold anything I have made so I am worried about how this is done and whether I am allowed to.

My first question is about selling home made chutney. I want to know if I am allowed to sell it in jars with company names on the lids. I was thinking anyway of covering the lids with cloth circles, but are there any legal implications for doing this?

Also, what could I charge for a jar of chutney? I was thinking of £2 a jar but I don't know if this would be reasonable or not.

Could anyone tell me where I could buy nice sticky labels to label my jars - not expensive though as the idea is very much to make money!

Any other tips/advice?

Also, has anyone any experience of selling wrapped sweets - things like peppermint creams/fudge. Does anyone know if it is possible to make a profit doing this? And where could I buy cellophane in which to wrap the sweets (thinking of making a little package, tied off with ribbon.....)

have a look at

this site

they sell lots of different kinds of packaging

Not sure about the health and safety aspect of making things at home to sell - although I'm sure that as it's just a school sale it'd probably be alright.
