Chainmaille

Or chain maille, or chainmail. Not sure which is correct, but anyway.

Inspired by some lovely jewellery (by OldTrout iirc) which was for sale in the Woolly Hugs auction at Easter, I'd love to have a go at this.

Does anyone have any tips? Particular books/web pages to start off. And suppliers of the rings?

You might want to search for threads (or google) on Historical reenactment, living history, medievalist, Sealed Knot (SK) or Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA)

This site looks quite good

There are also lots of jewellery supplies shops on EBay, Cooksongold.com are good for sterling silver as well as gold

Try jewellery maker.com, have instruction DVDs, there are a few for chainmaille and they sell all the supplies you need as well.

Oooh, thanks all. Will certainly have a look at those links.

I did have a mooch about the internet last night but got completely flummoxed by aspect ratios and gauge thicknesses. I never was very good at maths Grin

Still, try again this evening.
