Anyone else doing this? I started yesterday.
I've only been crocheting since October, so I'm treating this as a way to learn new stitches and practice what I already know, not sure I'll actually complete it though!

I'll be starting it as soon as I can track down the yarn. My tension squares were waaaaay off.

TheHoundsBitch · 08/04/2015 12:13

Yarn is in short supply apparently Confused There was a lady on the fb group selling hers though, 60 euros plus postage I think.
I'm doing it in Special DK rather than the Life.

Yes, saw that Shock I'd rather use special, and have some colours in my stash, but might have to colour match with a different yarn for the rest. I like how smooth the stylecraft is.

TheHoundsBitch · 08/04/2015 12:28

I've started made one thing with a wool mix, I found it way too fluffy and difficult to work with. The special is much easier. I've got some bamboo/silk mix that is lush to work with! Expensive though.

I have everything in my stash?? so will try to use it to stash bust.

StillaChocoholic · 09/04/2015 18:06

I'm using special DK, I had most of it but I've ordered a full pack anyway. I'm sure I'll find something to do with the remaining yarn.
There seems to be a lot of complaints about the tension on the facebook page. Mines coming up a bit bigger but I'm doing all four at the same time and they are all the same length so I'll just see how it goes.

TheHoundsBitch · 09/04/2015 19:01

Mine's come up a lot bigger, but I'm only up to the part where you change to a 3.5 hook. I think the ratio is more important than the actual size from reading the fb page comments. I'll see if the ratio is correct when my 3.5 hook arrives and I can do the rest I suppose!
This is the first time I've heard about tension tbh!

They are such lovely colours, I'm sure it'll be easy to use up any extra yarn. Not sure what I'm going to do with the finished blanket though if that ever happens.

IamTheWhoreofBabylon · 11/04/2015 23:38

I am not liking the frequent changes of hook size
Does anyone know why?
I keep forgetting and am tempted to just use a 4 hook

TheHoundsBitch · 12/04/2015 09:24

Something to do with gauge/ tension? I think you ned a smaller hook for the larger stitches so it comes out a uniform size.

I've had to go with a mix of life/special/king cole to replicate the colours. Just completed my first wave row. Now trying to decide whether to just go through the back loop to give more texture.

StillaChocoholic · 12/04/2015 15:35

I've seen someone suggest highlighting the colour and hook changes to make it a bit easier to remember.

I'm going to work through the back loops on the waves, I think it will look a lot better to be honest.

I haven't been able to work on it this weekend as I've had people staying but I can't wait to get on with it later. I'm actually quite enjoying it. I think I like the frequent colour changes as it makes it less boring for me.

TheHoundsBitch · 12/04/2015 16:36

The 3.5 hook has arrived, so I can start my waves. Yay! I think I might go through the back loop too, it looks really pretty like that.

OP posts:
StillaChocoholic · 18/04/2015 19:27

How are the waves going?
Have you seen that stylecraft have realised some making up instructions?
I think I'm going to wait till the squares are done before I start making up, although I haven't even finished the stripes and waves yet anyway so I needn't worry.

TheHoundsBitch · 19/04/2015 15:19

I quite like doing the waves! They're a bit more interesting than repeating doubles or trebles endlessly Grin
I've frogged everything and started again as the panels were coming out way too big. I've got one complete block now that is only slightly too long, hope fully I'll complete one or two more by Tuesday - I'm a very slow hooker!

Part 2 is out! I've started my first lily square, it's a bit more interesting to do than the last blocks :)

OP posts:
StillaChocoholic · 22/04/2015 20:54

Well I've finished the stripes and waves and I'm quite enjoying the little lily. I'm doing all four at the same time again, think I might actually get them done tomorrow or Friday. I'm surprised I've managed to work through them so fast.

TheHoundsBitch · 22/04/2015 21:15

I've done 2 of the week 1 blocks and 1 lily square so far, I have a lot of ends to sew in though :(
The lily square is quite quick and nice to do isn't it?

OP posts:
StillaChocoholic · 25/04/2015 10:29

Yeah, I'm quite enjoying the lily square.
With my ends I crochet over them so that I don't have to weave them in at the end. It works well for me but I've seen some people say they worry that the ends will wriggle free.

I've finished one square so far and just have the last two rounds to do on the other three. I'm hoping I'll get them finished today but my two year old seems to be determined to stop that happening.

Jinglebells99 · 29/04/2015 17:28

I have the yarn but I haven't started yet. I much prefer to be making amigurumi and am currently making a fox. Tbh I was a bit put off by the first block being in rows as I usually crochet in rounds.

StillaChocoholic · 05/05/2015 09:11

I'm counting down to the pattern coming out today! Great excuse not to go out, the weather is rubbish.

MarthaCostello · 08/05/2015 22:15

Yay, I stumbled across this and wondered if there would be a thread on here :) I'm a bit late, but have decided to start this. It will be nice to do something a bit different.

Depending how it turns out I will probably donate it to one of the Woolly Hugs projects (maybe a Billie's Blanket?).

I'm going to be using the Stylecraft Special as I get on so well with it and it's much cheaper.

I'm raring to go, so hopefully I will be able to maintain enthusiasm when my yarn actually arrives Grin

BitterChocolate · 08/05/2015 22:26

I'm doing this, but I'm being really slow. It's hayfever season for me so I feel ill and tired most of the time, but I'll catch up later. I'm doing an extended layout so I need to do loads extra of some of the parts.

TheHoundsBitch · 08/05/2015 22:28

I'm very behind with mine, I have two of the week one blocks completed and all four of week two up to row 6 or 7 and all four of week three up to row 8.
I'm enjoying the flowers, they're so pretty :)
