Are there any good online or YouTube free tutorials out there?

My art form is usually photography so I 'get' composition I just don't 'get' shape and colour

Thanks

I haven't done any drawing since secondary school (long time ago!). I found this site really useful to just get me started again, it's really step by step. If you find it tedious bear with it, it does all build towards being able to draw accurately. Have fun ??

This book works really well, it has you drawing quickly (its all about teaching you how to see lines and things...).

I always thought I was no good at art as I couldn't draw. However I've recently been practising and have been really pleased with the results. I got a Drawing for Dummies book out of the library and that gave me the confidence to have a go. I chose a subject (eg a particular view) and tried to see the shapes behind it. And just kept practising - a sketch a day is a good challenge - try some different styles to see what you prefer. After a while I felt I was getting better at seeing the shapes and the shading. Now I'm working on colour. It's good fun!
