Thanks in advance. I downloaded US amigurumi pattern but have got confused!

It's got sc= single crochet which I know is UK double crochet.

It also has dc= double crochet - what is this in UK terminology please?

US dc is UK tr

You might therefore see US hdc which is UK htr.

Hth

What are you making?

ClearlyMoo · 23/03/2015 06:14

Oooh thank you! No idea what hdc/htr are but pattern doesn't have!

Cute!

The US terms are simply one down from UK ones so to convert, just go back up one
US--->UK
Single = Double
Double = Treble

Then I get confused about the UK terms. I think a US Treble is a UK double treble but I'm not sure!! There are plenty of conversion charts if you google them. It might be worth printing one to have handy until you are bilingual :)

I'm forever getting confused about UK vs US terms so I've bookmarked this and frequently have it open when I'm starting a new pattern until I've got the hang of the stitches I need to use.

Thanks all

treble & triple mean the same thing though

I actually prefer the US terminology

OwlCapone · 23/03/2015 20:46

HDC

Yarn over
Hook through stitch
Yarn over and pull a loop
Yarn over and pull through all 3 loops on hook.

DelphiniumBlue · 23/03/2015 20:55

lagartaroja · 24/03/2015 06:16

Sorry! Didn't mean to confuse you by throwing hdc into the mix... :)
