Can netted bridal underskirts be dyed?

I've bought my wedding dress off the peg along with a layered netted underskirt. I asked the assistant for an ivory underskirt to match my ivory dress. It all came packaged up which I just simply took home after paying.

However, upon getting home and getting it all out of the packaging to hang I noticed the underskirt was bright white. I asked the store if I could return it for an ivory one as I had mistakenly been given a white one, only to be told that it only comes in one colour, and that it is actually described as being 'ivory'. Gutted! (It's not even close to being ivory, it's definitely white)

They have said I can return it for a full refund, but I'm unable to find another underskirt in ivory of the same quality. I love the underskirt, and it gives my wedding dress the perfect fullness - it's just the colour I don't like.

Is it possible for a professional to dye net underskirts? It states it's 100% polyester on the tag...

Thanks x

Yes I'm sure it is. Try reading this: www.ebay.co.uk/gds/How-To-Dye-Your-Wedding-Slip-Petticoat-or-Crinoline-/10000000006495651/g.html

Oooh, thanks for this! Other posters have said either "no" or soak it in tea - not brave enough for the tea-soaking method so Im pleased to see this - thanks Smile

I also think there are ivory ones for sale on eBay so you could always buy another and return the white one?

I tried to dye net curtains & they only held a tiny portion of the dye, so I'd double up on quantities if doing it yourself - & soak for longer. Or go for a darker colour than you need.

Catz, I've looked on ebay and the quality just doesn't compare to the one I've bought. Plus it has to be tealemgth and a size XS-S ...Have only found one seller on ebay who seems to make the same quality underskirts in the length and size I want but she's had quite a bit of bad feedback... don't know whether to risk it

If you have plenty of time, it might be worth risking it if she has what you want? At least you can get your money back through PayPal if it doesn't work out and still have the option to dye a white one.
I bought my wedding dress and underskirt from the US. Much cheaper and different options available from here.
