A bizarre and stupid question...

I need to turn a shrug into a tail coat......

I am doing the Edinbra Moonwalk and the theme is Mad Hatter's Tea Party.

Not bizarre or stupid at all. Just... challenging

I would check out Google images for some ideas but the basic premise is two elongated ovals with a flat top sewn to the bottom back of the shrug.

Perhaps instead of trying to hide the seam you could make a feature of it using buttons or braid. Alternatively make them out of completely contrasting fabric - I wonder if there is such a thing as a tea-cup or Alice themed print. Use the same fabric to add lapels.
