knitting for charity

Hi, I have just started a new scheme to donate knitted items to local people in need here in East Yorkshire.

I know lots of you knit for sending abroad, but I have had requests from many professionals who are working with those who are suffering from deprivation, especially children, right here.

If you could knit anything warm - scarves, hats, blankets, gloves, jumpers etc. (any size), my scheme 'Knit for Nowt', will donate them to organisations working in deprived areas in Hull and East Yorks. If you are local to that area, we can collect. Please, we need your help.

Go to www.knitfornowt.org for full details of the scheme. Thank you.

We knit, and indeed crochet, for the UK too. :)

Have you considered asking on FB, and Ravelry? I am in a FB group called MN Yarnaholics - you'd be welcome to join and see if any of the members could help you.

Many of us knit and crochet for Woolly Hugs, that makes blankets for projects in the UK and abroad. We also have online auctions to fundraise for different charities.

Thanks, yes, we are just about to join FB as a charity page, and the MN Yarnaholics sounds great! You sound like you're really amazing knitters!!

It's sometimes difficult to know who to give your knitting to isn't it because there are so many needy causes, but our small scheme is helping those who tend to get overlooked in our area!

I am a member of Ravelry, and good idea, hadn't thought of asking on there, thanks.
