Any ideas where I might get hold of the pattern? Clearly to make over several days rather than 90 minutes ... But I thought it was lovely.

It was fab wasn't it!

I wonder about sizing though - it was all one size (small)

Petonk · 13/03/2015 11:16

It was a Japanese pattern - there are loads of simple Japanese pattern books available on Amazon. I have been tempted to try one so have some in my basket but have yet to take the first step towards making one of them by actually buying the book!

Petonk · 13/03/2015 11:17

In the book reviews some say the original (japanese) sizing is small but some of the books have allowed for that and given larger sizing - look in the reviews/comments for which ones have.

EATmum · 13/03/2015 16:16

Oooh. I'll have to look at some of those books - thank you.

Ooooh
I want

CaTsMaMmA · 13/03/2015 18:45

i really want to make it too....

couldn't find a freebie anywhere last night on the interwebs, but did find a few blogs with decentish pics

I am going to try to make a pattern...have done this for upholstery and the like but never clothes. Might hack apart an old t shirt or something.

YvesJutteau · 13/03/2015 18:51

One of the sewing blogs (I forget which) confidently asserted that it's the "one piece scoop neck asymmetrical top" from Drape Drape 2.

CaTsMaMmA · 13/03/2015 19:43

yes...drape drape 2 is the book, pattern is #4.

EATmum · 15/03/2015 00:52

Excellent - thank you!

Is the pattern in the new Sewing Bee book?

lavendersun · 15/03/2015 12:29

I don't think it is - DD bought it for me as a mothers day gift - I have only had a quick glance and don't remember that one, I will have a look later on. It does have a strappy jumpsuit pattern that I thought I would make as summer nightwear, not very useful!

lucysmam · 15/03/2015 14:45

The pattern's not in the book, I was looking for it in mine (also a Mother's Day present). It does have the walkaway dress though so am chuffed about that Grin

LIZS · 15/03/2015 14:53

Just got the book and Sad final top isn't in it although many of the others from the series are, with different variations.

lavendersun · 15/03/2015 16:39

Very popular as a Mothers Day present then Grin, it is a lovely book, nice to look at, lovely photos. I have lots of old sewing books though and always turn to the old ones first - I wonder if I will grow to like this one.

lucysmam · 15/03/2015 16:53

I have none of my old sewing books - gave them away when I thought I wasn't going to sew any more Sad

Turns out I was, hopefully this will be the start of a useful collection Grin

lavendersun · 15/03/2015 16:59

What a shame lucysmam, I am a hoarder and still have them all, including my mother's books from the 50s/60s.

At least the GBSB doesn't have eye watering orange print!

lucysmam · 15/03/2015 17:09

I know, I had no plans to take up sewing again when I gave them away - at least they went to the local college so will have been useful.

I do still have a lot of my mam's Burda magazine patterns though. Doubt I'll ever make dungarees but you never know so I hold onto them Grin

lavendersun · 15/03/2015 17:12

You never know Grin, actually I would quite like some dungarees myself - reminds me of the 'sturdy' thread. If you haven't seen it someone's DH thinks that 'sturdy' is a compliment ... and after considering it I am inclined to agree with him!

lucysmam · 15/03/2015 17:34

I spied it earlier on, it looks quite long so was going to have a look when the girls go to bed.

My dp called me "wobbly" last night
...in a good way Hmm I'm not wobbly, just a bit untoned because I'm lazy when it comes to exercise.

EATmum · 15/03/2015 20:19

Yes I got the book as a mothers' day present too. A safe bet for my lot. Shame that top isn't included but I like the look of the 'drapey knit dress' and the 'three hour ten hour slouchy cardigan'. Oh for more time in the day!

EAT, that definitely is a problem...just a few more productive hours would be good sometimes.
