making a spider costume for 5 year old ds out of fur fabric, want to pad the body so it looks like a big round spider body. But what shape do I cut out?

kittyb - when I did this for my ds, I used a black poloneck jumper that was too big and sewed an extra panel on the inside front & back & stuffed it with soft toy stuffing. He wore black tights and had two extra pairs stuffed attached to his back.
I put the extra panels inside because my sewing is crappy & I didn't want it to show & also it meant they didn't have to be such an accurate shape/fit.

I thought I'd been really clever about the head because I found an SAS type (ie just holes for eyes & mouth/nose) balaclava really cheap in an
army surplus store - it looked really good, but the poor little chap roasted - and it was itchy!

good idea! Think I'll go for black face paint then, sounds a bit cooler.
