Hi, just run up a simple skirt for dd. Double thickness as lined. I've gathered waistband to a length of elastic. Elastic is visible not in a waistband. I've sewn directly onto elastic. Looks fine but stitching rips when dd pulls it on. Tried zig zagging to allow more give but still ripping. Any advice? Thanks.
