Beautiful, big, fat, crochet pouff ... Patterns?

I'm new to crochet, so far made a cushion and a door snake. I'm feeling ambitious and think a crochet pouff would be just the thing. I've looked online and found quite a few patterns, but I'm finding it difficult to match up patterns with yarn. This is complicated by living outside the UK in a place where chunky yarn is an extravagance/unknown. Could you recommend a pattern and yarn that I can get online? Something neutral, big stitches and washable (aka flexible, fast and cat proof). Thanks

I've no idea, but have you looked on Ravelry? There are loads of patterns there, some need to be bought, but loads are free.

Could you use tshirt yarn or sheets or towels? I've seen fabulous work using them and would be good for washing.

Thanks both, been a bit busy, but will look into your ideas in the next few days.
