Help! I need short, fat circular needles!

Hi

I have a new pattern book (ahhhhhh) and one pattern calls for 60cm 9mm cicular needles and 40cm 8mm circular needles. Having been to my knitting haven it seems such needles are not easily found in the UK.

I have found some on US websites for 20 dollars but that seems a little much!

Anyone have any ideas?

You might be able to manage it with a Denise set, which would be pricey, but would do for these, and a bunch of other weird requirements ...

Or you could maybe do it with a lot of DPNs? Not too tempting, though.

Come and borrow my Denise needles? Seriously, if you were going to spend $20 you would be better off buying a set, they're these . You can borrow some if you like though!

Spooky, eh

NotQuiteCockney · 18/10/2006 20:26

Kangaroo has the Denise set for £30.

NotQuiteCockney · 18/10/2006 20:27

(I never use my Denise set these days, thanks to the 3mm mania. I finished the blanket! 3mm, it's huge, mosaic work. Must upload pics ...)

I'm using mine at the moment (and can I just point out that LS and I live near each other, I am not completely mad...)

LittleScarer · 18/10/2006 20:28

Ooh that would be great! Thanks tamum, let me know when is good for you...

Love that website btw the way, especially the family pic 'RELAX..... WE'RE ALL HERE'

Well tamum, you could post knitting needles surely, they are not that sharp.

And NQC, I think I will probably buy some soon!

You know tamum, you should mention that set to Handknit, they were a bit flustered by my request today!

Yes, with the fixed grins, like this

How urgent is it? We are going away for a long weekend and are back on Monday afternoon, is that too far off? I'm at work tomorrow and out tomorrow evening. I could post them though, as you rightly say!

taMummy · 18/10/2006 20:36

I did tell Julie about them ages ago, but there's no reason why she would have told Carol and Jeanette, I should take them in and show them really. Hey, there was another MNer in the shop today, I wonder if you were there at the same time!

LittleScarer · 18/10/2006 20:41

Hi

It is not urgent at all, have two things on the go () so really shouldn't be starting another! Next week is fine.

Who else was in??! There was another girl there when I was in... it was Carol today who is lovely I think but always says bye in a bit of school teachery way (no offence to school teachers!).

It was Pruni

LittleScarer · 18/10/2006 21:00

Well I don't know what Pruni looks or sounds like but I doubt it was her!

are they old size needles or new? as i have a 80cm size 9 (3.75mm) and a 100cm size 8 (4mm) if you need them?

NotQuiteCockney · 20/10/2006 11:12

New, I think - she said it was in mm. Really thick needles ...

NotQuiteCockney · 20/10/2006 11:13

These days, I expect 4mms would feel like broomsticks to me, I can't imagine working in 8 or 9mm!
