Is there a cheat's way to make a corset type top?

But not actually a corset?

Dd1 wants a Cinderella dress (my list is getting longer!) for WBD.

I wondered if a vest top might work with some stitching where the seams would be to give the illusion of the shape & then a separate skirt part.

Scrap that...I have a new plan!

If I make the skirt so it has the v shape in front, would it be too heavy for a vest top to be stitched to it to form the corset top?

Scrap the v in the skirt front - I'll stick to a plain skirt with the overlay on & work out a way of making the top look corset ish.

Make a straight forward A line dress then a tank-top for over the top?

Or a skirt with a tank top

Tie ribbons on the back of the tank top to pull it in for size

Aha! A line dress would be perfect...if I can work out how to fix the flouncy bits on the side of Cinderella's dress to it (it's for a costume).

Some gold braid or something to mark out the seams....

Thank you!

just use bits of oblong material like a pinny for each side & gather the bottom to make them puff a bit
