I need a new hobby.

I need something for the evenings that os compatible with rubbish eyesight that I can pick up and put down fairly quickly but that will keep my hands busy and my mind fairly occupied. I can knit but I'm slow. I can sort of crochet a bit, but again I'm slow and not well enough to make good stuff.

I can't think what I'd like to do though. Nothing to do with sewing and I don't wear jewellery so not making that. Any suggestions please?

Spinning. You can get a drop spindle for under a tenner, no need for a wheel.

Wow! That's something I would never have thought of in a million years but where do you get the fibres for it? Really interesting idea!

Scrapbooking? You can start with very basic supplies. It's a lovely way to display photos.

Easy to get online but can get in craft shops because people use it for felting. I like a website called World of Wool.

I have done/do too many things (probably quite badly).

I bought a loom a couple of years ago and have to say that I really enjoy weaving. You can produce something that looks quite amazing fairly quickly, and in my case, without any obvious skill.

Weaving led to drop spinning for me too, but I enjoy weaving more than spinning which takes a bit of learning to produce something to use in knitting/weaving.

I would like to try felting too or needle felting, someone sent me a lovely little felted tree at Christmas. I think you can get going with needle felting quite cheaply with a kit.

Yes, and wet felting is even cheaper (though perhaps not so useful in this case as it's not so easy to pick up and put down!)

Felting looks amazing. I always thought it consisted of boiling knitted bags to shrink them. I think I may have got that wrong! I really want to have a go at felting little animals, they looking amazing. Is it really poking a lump of wool with a needle and an animal appears?

not so sure about scrapbooking. It doesnt really appeal.

I bought my dd a felting kit for Xmas, she's been getting into it the past few days. She's started off using cookie cutters to make flat shapes to get used to it (and protect her fingers from the needle!) Loads of ideas on pinterest.

Try Mosaicraft... also known as Pixalhobby. It's a cross between a mosaic and cross stitching

My first go. Instructions were for a robin but I don't have any red so I turned it into an owl. Waiting for a book I've ordered so I can learn how to do this properly cos it's really fun :)
