Am I ready for an Attic 24 blanket?

A blanket was the first thing I ever crocheted, at the age of 10. i am a pretty proficient knitter but have never really been a crocheter. I have taken it up again recently and have made a lot of snowflakes and done a couple of pieces in broomstick crochet.
I love looking at Attic 24 and have wanted to do a blanket for some time. I don't like doing little things, I find them so fiddly and hate darning the ends in. Am I ready for a ripple blanket or the one she has recently done? ( it is all trebles, like my very first blanket!) is it suitable for someone who is, whilst not a beginner, not a terribly experience crocheter? I have just finished a large knitting project and promised myself I would give it a go but I don't want to get all the wool and end up with a bloody disaster!

I'm not sure about the ripple blanket. I've been eyeing it myself (also a proficient knitter, but beginner crocheter). I made the Granny Stripe blanket for Woolly Hugs though, and it was really easy, especially once I got into the swing of it and I really liked how it turned out. There were quite a lot of ends to darn in but I tried to do them as I went so it wasn't too much of a chore at the end
Do you mean the Cozy Blanket by the one she's recently done? It's lovely! There's a CAL group on Ravelry so you should be able to get some online support if you do decide to go for it.

If you have done broomstick which personally I find very fiddly you should have no problem with the cozy or the Ripple.
I sew in my ends as I go doing two rows at a time so I don't have loads to do at the end.

I got so bored with the ripple I've given up on it for now :)

I got on better with a granny square blanket because each individual square feels like you're getting somewhere! I did one where you crochet the squares together to finish them rather than sewing them together :)

Thanks. I don't mind having a long project as long as I gave enough bloody wool to finish it! I suppose I could start with a cushion cover or something. I have never crocheted a granny square??

It is the cosy blanket. I like this one and the ripple. I love the cottage colours. Sooper is the granny square one of hers? I couldn't see it.

Flossy if you take a trip through the cozy CAL posts on her blog there is a picture of the Cozy pattern done with the cottage colours and it is lovely.

I learnt to crochet about 18 months ago. My first proper project was the attic 24 bag, my second the ripple blanket.

As a beginner, it was fine once I got the hang of it.

Am I being thick? What is the cal bit? I might just try the bag then, off to have a looks, thanks.

I've got a ripple blanket ongoing and I'm far from an expert crocheter. I'm self taught and prior to starting the blanket I'd mostly done amigurumi (so almost entirely single crochet), some granny squares and I also started an Attic24 hexagon blanket which I got a bit bored with I haven't found the ripple pattern difficult at all, the first row is horribly fiddly but once you get going it's fine.

I'm quite tempted by the Moogly 2015 CAL but I've just started a giant version of the magic rainbow baby blanket and I really don't need yet another project on the go!

I've just finished a cosy stripe blanket on the cal on ravelry. It's really easy and fast too once you get used to it.
In fact I've just started a second, bigger one in the cottage colours.
Ripple is easy once you've 'got it' too. I made a cushion cover to practise on something smaller a first.

I'm also dithering about the moogly one, but it might be a bit trickier and I have a lot to finish off first.

My Mum made the ripple blankets for DS and DD when they were born. They are lovely, very cosy and conforming. DCs are now in their 20s and the blankets will be passed on when they have their own children

I'm a beginner crocheter and the Ripple is really, really not hard. You need to keep an eye on your stitch count for the first few rows or the edges won't be straight, but I used stitch markers in between repeats.

First thing I made was a ripple. It's a bit wavy around the edges but not bad.

The ripples are very easy to do. I'm doing the Coast one at the moment and I'm much more a knitter than a crocheter.

Fur They are made of just normal knitting wool I think but I am no expert!

I have never crocheted before in my life and thought about doing the wave blanket but decided on the cosy stripe as a first project. I'm absolutely loving it. I'm sure the wave pattern is also not too difficult once you get the hang of it and I fully intend it to be my next project!

I've made a ripple too. I'm quite crafty, more a knitter than anything, and wouldn't say I was a born crocheter, but it was really satisfying to do, strangely hypnotising in a good way, and looks v impressive (if I do say so!). I couldn't face a double one, though - it's only lap-size. But I now plan to make a bigger one, which says it all.

I think the key is to make sure in advance that you have enough yarn. And it WILL take a long time, so just hang on in there once you've started!

Agree it will take ages! If you are picky about colours buy all the yarn at once and colour scheme it. If not pick a yarn and say 6 colours and the gradually introduce new stripes.
