Beginners kit -not sure if I want cross stitch or something else

Hi. I want to buy my Dd a cross stitch type kit for Xmas...but I'm not sure if that's what I actually mean. When I was younger I had a hook type thing, which I put little individual strands of wool thru a mesh type thing with a picture printing on one side. It ended up with a wooly version of the print.

Was it a Latch Hook rug kit or maybe Websters Punch embroidery.

Do you have any experience of it? If so which one would be best for a complete starter? ( I'm next to useless Hmm)

There are some beginner latch hook kits here but I have no experience of them myself.

I'm really excited. Brings back happy memories. I shall purchase at least two so me and DD can do it together Grin. I'm sure I will be able to remember how to do it as opposed to learning something new. Maybe it will lead on to more ..

I did this one a while ago as a complete beginner! It took ages but was lots of fun! Smile

There are some really cute ones on When's link!
