wreath/table/ornament making with plants. ie; ivy, holly, pine etc. Can anyone tell me if I go and nick loads of ivy/holly/pine from somewhere, will it go brown or do I have to do something to it for it to stay green. Someone told me glycerine, but I have not tried it????????

Thanks Fangface , the ivy needs to be a big part of my mantlepiece thingy, but the other stuff is good as I have 2 holly trees up my back passage. One with berries and one without, DH says they are different trees!!

They are beautiful btw. I looked after I posted. I don't have any of those up my passage, have to go the duck park for them!!

Is it not painful to have holly trees up your back passage?

I just knew someone would be smutty . We have a 'coal passage' at the bottom of our garden and the neighbours have said I can steal their holly

Coal passage really doesn't sound any less snurk-able

I went to library today and borrowed the most wonderful book on christmas crafts. Hence, all of this old shit . One of their ideas is to sellotape some sheets of newspaper together (so they will be long and then roll rope like to make a circle, do two of these stick together and put some string around and spray gold - theres yer wreath!! is that what you meant by paper when you talk about the base?
