DS1 (4.8) wants striped rainbow coloured gloves. I can't find any, could any of my crafty MN friends knit gloves or mittens for him? I'll pay for yarn, time & postage

I am tagging on here Ghost because I would also like similar and can't find anyone on Facebook to do it. I want some of those knitted "cuffs" you know....the ones that are just sleeves with no fingers? Wrist warmers I think they're called.

knitters! We're waiting! Grin

I found all these on Etsy, some might be suitable for you Claws? Couldn't see quite what I was after though so posting on here.

Yep I can do it

CaulkheadUpNorth · 07/11/2014 10:10

I do a fair amount of commissioned knitting. I don't have a website or anything though...

MyGhostIsFlummoxed · 07/11/2014 10:12

That would be awesome if you could Caulkhead. How much do you normally charge?

OP posts:
CaulkheadUpNorth · 07/11/2014 10:21

£3 per 50g of "normal" wool. So gloves would be about £5-6 depending on how big they were.

If you wanted them cabled and laced then it would be different, but this sounds like normal wool and normal knitting. Smile

Having wool that is already striped saves buying all the colours.

CaulkheadUpNorth · 07/11/2014 10:40

Not sure what happened to my link there...

MyGhostIsFlummoxed · 07/11/2014 10:58

But will that wool give stripes or more of a mixed up colours appearance?

OP posts:
CaulkheadUpNorth · 07/11/2014 11:03

Should be striped. I'll see if anyone I know has it and ask them.

BikeRunSki · 07/11/2014 11:04

Jojo

Gullygirl · 08/11/2014 05:48

This is a good option, its Wondersoft Merrygoround by Stylecraft and available at Deramores in 100g balls.
The Robin paintbox is not self striping, it has a dappled effect.

I'm very happy to make them, either with seven separate colours, or some self striping wool.

MyGhostIsFlummoxed · 08/11/2014 09:12

He definitely wants stripes, if you could let me have an estimate of cost Caulk that would be great Smile

CaulkheadUpNorth · 08/11/2014 09:16

I could definitely do them for £10 for mittens or £12 for gloves (more wool, takes slightly longer).

They'd take me about four hours to do, so could have them with you by Thursday?

MyGhostIsFlummoxed · 08/11/2014 09:27

That would be amazing thank you. He'd prefer gloves. What's the best way to pay you?

OP posts:
CaulkheadUpNorth · 08/11/2014 09:35

Ok no problem. Would PayPal be ok? I'll pm you the details.

MyGhostIsFlummoxed · 08/11/2014 09:42

Yes paypal is fine, let me know the details & I'll PM my address.

Really appreciate this.

Does the £12 include postage etc?

4 hours! Wow, am in awe of your speedy knitting skills! That would take me weeks...

CaulkheadUpNorth · 08/11/2014 10:58

Yes to postage. They'll be light and i have masses of jiffy bags. Assuming you don't mind a bag that has been used before!

Just - I knit ALL the time. Pretty sure I can knit quicker than I can type now. That's not a stealth boast, as typing would be much more useful than knitting most of the time. I do a lot of socks and gloves so knitting in the round is pretty quick now.

MyGhostIsFlummoxed · 08/11/2014 11:02

Payment sent (I hope!)

I have knitting envy Grin

Been meaning to try gloves for a while. If I start soon I might finish them in time for next autumn!!
