... you know, the one which looks like a wheatsheaf. Made out of dough. My best pal and I are attempting one at the moment.

Any clues? How do you make it all posh and shiny?

TIA

Found this online:

Ways to glaze bread before baking are; for a dark, shiny glaze, brush on 1 beaten egg yolk. For a light shiny glaze, beat the whole egg or brush on melted butter or margarine. For shine with no color, brush on 1 egg white beaten with 1 tbsp water

Hopefully one of those should work.

Tempting though, RubyRioja. I'm sure you could do that, but you'd have to make sure it wasn't going to be eaten.

Jackie, it worked out really well - thank you!!

The only problem was that BF had to leave to collect her child before it was completely cooked, and H refused to take me to her house because, in his words 'you had a cigarette ten minutes ago, I'm not taking you if you have another'.

Ah, well. From someone who smoked from when he was 14 to when he was 65, that's, well, oh God it's too early, but you know what I mean .....
