aero i have just been googling around and all I can find are literally hundreds of requests for patterns from grandmas everywhere who want to knit one!

I would start with a standard jumper.

And then find a pixelated image of Thomas, and put that on the front, iyswim.

I do have some fairisle/intarsia train patterns somewhere, but they're not sweater patterns, just pixel images, iyswim.

yes - I actually have a template for a childs clown jumper that literally has each stitch coloured on a chart - wouldn't be difficult to transfer a thomas picture. It was a dk pattern so if I can find it I can tell you how many rows, stitches etc

Aero - I think I might have one! Unfortunately it's packed (moving house on Sunday), but I can have a look for it when we get there (next week sometime). Janh sent me a super pattern book and I'm sure there's one in there somewhere.

Loads on eBay

Thank you everyone and thanks Miaou - that would be great and good luck for your move on Saturday.

I have to admit all this goes over my head a bit (despite learning needlecraft at school - I knit too tightly, so gave up many, many tears ago!), but granny understands about the standard pattern and pixelated image etc.

We're also going to watch and bid on a few on Ebay as they look like he'll like them and he's not reached the age yet where he won't wear knitted jumpers etc.

I knew mn wouldn't let me down. It was Granny who suggested I ask my mn friends - lol.
