Something to stop sofa cushions from sliding - massive velcro or what?

Anyone got any ideas of what I could do to stop sofa cushions sliding forward gradually?

It's a chaise cushion and feather, so it's long and heavy; really awkward to readjust back to its position.

I tried some wide strips of heavy duty self-adhesive velcro, but the adhesive wasn't strong enough.

So:

  1. can I get large panels of velcro somewhere?

and

  1. how do I hand sew them into thick upholstery material? special needles perhaps? I wouldn't be able to get a normal needle through without a fight and my little sewing machine couldn't handle it.

No need to get your needle out (I hope)

I had a problem with a double futon - kept sliding when it was in sofa mode - cotton canvas against wood....before you knew it it was drooping a foot over the edge and was fucking heavy to hoik back in place. Googled it and suggested solution was anti-slip rug stuff and the nest recommended was : ta da:

A couple of foot wide strips along the length of it...my futon no longer slips. Evah.
