Can I replace this zip?

So I have lost some weight (yay) and now need to go down a size in trousers. I've found 2 pairs that now fit however one has a knackered zip. They are only Dorothy Perkins ones however I cannot afford to replace them.

I've never done a zip before, and to be honest they will go in the fabric stash anyway so I should have a go bit I really don't know where to start help!!!!!

I would try YouTube to see if you can find a tutorial just to give you some advice and confidence.
Just remember that you will have to adjust the waistband as well. Sounds like you have nothing to lose!

Well done on losing the weight!

If the two pairs that you have found fit on the waist, it is easy to replace a zip if you have a sewing machine. There is basically a lot of unpicking :(

Buy a zip the same length as the old one then look at some tutorials, either on YouTube as suggested or look at tutorials from Threads, Grainline studios, Stitches and Seams blog etc all have good instructions.

Thanks guys, the are the sort wher the have a wide band that goes over to the other side iyswim. So the zip is not connected to or near the waistband
