Does anyone do this? I think that my 8 year old would love some for Christmas seeing as she always looks at it in JL.

If you do it can you tell me which bits are essential glue/varnish wise and where is the best place to buy it.

Thanks.

My children love it. My eldest daughter had a decopatch party for her 8th birthday which was a huge success. I bought various packs of paper, brushes and the glue/varnish and some cheap wooden photograph frames from Tesco or Sainsburys for wet weather entertainment. They loved having something they could actually use afterwards and you've reminded me to stock up again for this winter. A friend of mine buys junk shop furniture and tarts it up with decopatch. Completely transforms it. Sorry, can't help our with where to buy. I bought mine from a local pottery shop which also sells decopatch and does the parties. We've now moved and I recently discovered a brilliant stationers/ craft shop which sells it too. I expect there'll be loads online too.

Have a look for the bird Kirsty Allsop made on her crafty show, just scrunched up newspaper with lots of Sellotape, then covered with pretty paper. I'm sure there are lots of other shapes you could make too. For me, the papier mâché shapes are so expensive that I get a bit precious about it, but the papers themselves go quite a long way. I just use watered down PVA glue to stick and coat the paper.

I know for Xmas you want to get her some nice bits, but it might be a good addition to get a book and some other materials to be able to make her own shapes as well as buying them ready made.
