Walking foot for Janome?

I bought a Janome machine recently and although it's great, it didn't come with a walking foot, which I really do need.

They cost a fortune Angry but there seem to be compatible ones out there. Has anyone got one of these? Or do I shell out £££ for a branded one?

It's a top-loading bobbin, if that helps.

Any advice? TIA

Not sure if you could use a generic one sorry. I know for other "simple" feet I can use generic makes for my Pfaff, but more complicated feet such as walking, rufflers etc I think they need to be own brand. Sorry.

Perhaps contact a janome dealer and see what they say?

On the plus side, it's one foot you will get soooooo much use out of, it's money well spent. Enjoy your machine

I would look on ebay - there are a couple of sellers who list generic feet by brand and which machine they will fit.

I have a Bernina and bought a generic invisible zipper foot (after spending nearly £180 on Bernina feet I thought £6 was a fair punt) which was listed as fitting my machine.

It was fine on one side, not on the other where the needle hit the foot instead of going down the little groove. I stuck to Bernina feet after that, perhaps I was just unlucky though.

I bought a generic walking foot from a seller on Amazon. It cost under £14. I buy all my extra feet from the same seller.

They have all fitted well. The walking foot is identical to the walking foot Janome supplied with my new machine.

Can I hop onto this thread to ask another Janome question?

I can't find the light switch on mine. The light bulb is there,,I can see it, but I can't turn it on.

There is nothing in the instruction manual either.
Any other Janome users out there that can advise?

Bah, I just typed a reply then deleted it....

Cutted, I seem to recall the light on mine just comes on when the machine's switched on, but you may have a more evolved model! Maybe it needs a new bulb?

Anyway, as the OP I've now bitten the bullet and ordered an expensive one, didn't see your reply until just now, Minnies! V envious that your machine came with one - mine does have several useful (and expensive) feet, but not that one...
