Knitting for charity

I have found a load of wool at home and would love to put it to some use having not knitted for ages. I looked at Woolly Hugs but unfortunately the wool I have is not the right brand/make. Can anyone recommend another good cause I could knit for? Squares for blankets/Blankets/hats etc, can do all sorts but fairly rusty!

Do you know anyone whose school or church does the christmas shoebox appeal? My mother in law and her friends from her knit and natter group are all using up their odds and ends of wool knitting gloves, scarves and little teddies to go in the boxes.

It can still be used for WoollyHugs as the MiniHugs can be knitted in different wools. Smile

Lifesalmon - yes my work does the boxes. Great idea thanks.

Prettybird - reread the woolly hugs site now you've posted that, thank you I got confused, it looks like I need to make a whole blanket which could take a while but winter is coming and I have a lot of wool!!

I knit teddy bears for the police at rtcs and hats for neo natal baby care. Interested in those?

Baby blankets can be small Smile and they keep your lap warm while you're doing them Wink

SANDS are looking for knitters to make white corner-to-corner blankets. It's a really easy pattern in DK

Happy to make hats though the teddies may be a stretch given the colours I have (left over from making an eeyore stuffed toy so pinks, purples, blues and brown - with the odd small amount of cream or white).

With regards to the woolly hugs blankets it says non scratchy - the wool i have is acrylic but washable and has been used for soft toys, will that be ok?
