How to mend mesh fabric? Heeeelllllppppp!!

A dear friend has just bought a fabulous bargain from Phase Eight - it is basically a camisole under dress with sheer, slightly stretchy mesh over the top. Some fool at the shop shot the tags through the mesh at the back, above the camisole and it has three fingernail holes in it. (Hence the bargain price!). I have managed to remove the plastic tags without further accident. I have thread of the right colour but it isn't as fine as the mesh and I know I won't be able to replicate the shape of the mesh holes. I could give it a go just drawing the sides together but I think it might look a bit like when tights came in and we used to stitch holes and runs, leaving little round or snakey lumps on your legs (well, it was the early 70s, tights were dear and money was tight!).
I know there is probably no ideal solution but would be ever so grateful for your advice, please. I am quite handy with a needle, will probably have one or two threads the right colour and also have some fabric glue.

Is there a small unobtrusive bit of the material which you could use to patch over the holes? On the seams or anywhere?
Do you have an invisible mender in your area! They might be able to help or have something as fine as the mesh.

Thanks but no spare fabric. Not aware of any invisible menders but I don't think she wants the cost.

Could you draw the sides together so they just meet, rather than making a lumpy ridge? Do you have any of that 'invisible' thread?

I sometimes find that leaving a small tear as it is is less conspicuous than mending it.

Could you possibly find a pretty matching 'patch' in a haberdashery shop? Some kind of embelishment that will look as though it was always meant to be there ( lacy it sequinned for instance)?

I hadn't thought of invisible thread, I bet I have some somewhere, but I think drawing the edges together would be tricky.
Looking at the dress in the stone cold light of day and sobriety, I am certain it has been worn. is this a new thing? My friend bought some jeans last week in the sale and when we looked at them they had clearly been worn. I think it is really unfair - Next took the jeans back but the Phase Eight dress had been drastically reduced and she won't be able to take it back. When you look down the dress there are numerous pulls but no tears. I like the idea of finding some lacy flowers or something to dot over the back. Many thanks for all of your suggestions.
