knitting arizona dream blanket

Just bought a pack to knit colinette Arizona dream blanket - thinking of knitting this one www.colinette.com/pages/Arizona-Dreams-Yosemite.html
a couple of questions - the wool has come in skeins - do I need to make these in balls to knit or can you knit from a skein ?

secondly as it is stripey I will have lots of ends - would the best way be to weave these in afterwards do you think ? any advice gratefully received x

Yes - please do not attempt to knit from the skein/hank as I did the first time I bought one. What. A. Bloody. Mess.

Put the skein over the back of a chair and wind it up - I like a centre pull ball (which is easier to do with a yarn winder) but you can do it by hand .

Two schools of thought on ends - one is do them as a job lot at the end when you know which you will be able to disguise in seams and so on, the other is do them as you go along. I would do as you go. Good luck!

Is that the inside of a toilet roll tribpot? If so what a wonderful idea.
I would weave the ends in as you go along, go a little bit further than where the ends are, so you have some room to manoeuvre. It doesn't look as if there are going to be any seams to hide ends in, so you would be stuck with them all at the end.

Yes, that's right Oma. It doesn't leave a big hole in the centre as the yarn pushes inward from the outside.

I have decided to do the Yosemite design as it is most straightforward and I am not really an expert knitter . The yarns are so lovely I think it will look good - have chosen the purple / green combo called mountain hue for the colours . Ridiculously excited about starting . Doing it on round needles on recommendation of the shop but knitting normally not in the round iyswim . First time with those too but guess it's just the same x

I'm by no means an experienced knitter and I find working with circular needles much easier. Lovely looking yarn. I'm always keen to start up knitting again as soon as the weather turns chillier!

Really lovely. May I suggest you put in a 'lifeline' after every ten rows (find it on YouTube) as it will be a pig to unravel, being mohair.
Yes, a circular needle is the very best to use for this kind of project, I am doing more and more on circular needles, it's much easier to transport that way.
