Medieval costume ideas

For our ds ! He's 7

He's quite drawn to a classical Robin Hood costume. And we are thinking of prince and pauper too. Perhaps a jester

Any ideas or past suggestions?

Buy leggings/tights, make a tunic. I made a very good Henry VIII-style gown by making a cloak and cutting slits in it for the arms, which would be good for the prince. It's all in the trimmings for that one - I got some white furry trim (actually feathers) which I sewed along the hem.
For the hat, I made it like a mob cap (ie circles with elastic) but from black acetate with stiffening in the brim and sewed on an ostrich feather.
