£6480 for the cheapest 'stand' at a fair? I MUST be reading this wrong

Confused

It's the handmade fair at Hampton Court. If you click on the list of crafters attending there's plenty of very small craftspeople doing cards, candles etc

But if you click on booking a space without walls it's £180 a square metre and the minimum booking space is 36 square metres.

There's no way a tiny crafter making cards could recoup that Confused

Good grief! I don't think even most of the hand dyed yarn stalls I sw at Woolfest, last year had that much in value of stock. That's pretty steep.

Beehatch · 05/08/2014 14:19

36 square meters is HUGE, that can't be right!

ouryve · 05/08/2014 14:21

It's what it says on the form. Probably twice the size of a typical market stall.

Namechangearoonie123 · 05/08/2014 14:21

It is huge unless they mean you can go all the way to the ceiling? And maybe the ceiling is far away ........ Grin

But it does say the minimum space you can buy is 36 sqm

It's got to be a typo for 3.6m

FuckYouChrisAndThatHorse · 05/08/2014 14:22

3.6m2

Beehatch · 05/08/2014 14:22

No it's much bigger than that, more like swimming pool sized - or bigger!

tryingtocatchthewind · 05/08/2014 14:23

Can't be 36sqm that's the size of a small house!

playftseforme · 05/08/2014 14:23

Definitely worth checking with the organisers on the min dimensions required - 36m2 is enormous

WhatTheHellDoWeCallThisBaby · 05/08/2014 14:23

Look carefully again at the application. The 36sqm thing is only if you don't use their 'shell scheme' - in other words if you're a massive exhibitor who'll be building your own amazing stand. Everyone else picks a reasonable size normal shell stand with walls.

500internalerror · 05/08/2014 14:25

I think all the small exhibitors will take a shell, they won't want to build their own walls!

500internalerror · 05/08/2014 14:26

Oops sorry x post brcause I was watching horrid Henry before pressing 'post' :-)

Namechangearoonie123 · 05/08/2014 14:47

That makes sense

Though I notice that it doesn't say on the application how small you can get a shell made at £220 per square metre.

If you get a square metre I wonder if you then get the wall and a table to display on?

I emailed them and got a response

The smallest stand is 4.5 sq m - making £990 plus vat for the 3 days.

So actually it's £1400 ish for a stand.

I think you'd have to sell a lot to make that back
