christmas stocking needed

Hi! I have a 5 week old baby and I really want him to have a home made xmas stocking for his first xmas. I just learned how to knit so could do something really simple, but any type of craft would be considered. I want something quite traditional and not too babyish so he can use it for years. Anybody have any ideas?

Thanks!

I have a template somewhere that a MNetter gave me last year - I'll see if I can find it

thanks! is it one you sew? I have a great machine but dont know how to use it but I am sure I could learn - if a new baby allows me the time to learn!

any use?

or this?

if you can't sew, you could always use fabric glue I guess or your baby might like the sound of the sweing machine?!

(BTW - I never got round to doing mine so my Mum offered and came back with exactly the opposite of what I wanted - I ended up buying 2 in Homebase on Xmas Eve for £1 each )

Do you like doing needlepoint? These are expensive kits but gorgeous, heirloom quality and large enough to fill with small gifts jollyred

If you like x-stitch, I have a pattern for one with penguins if you're interested

sorry about the delay in responding! with a 5 week old colicky baby computer time becomes precious!

I am shying away from anything stitched really as with my history of stitching it takes me AGES to finish ANYTHING. (although I do enjoy it)

Thanks for the feedback though! I think I am going to knit something... um... who knows! I need to think fast though as I have to allow plenty of time to do it.
