Can you paint willow baskets?

I have a set of woven willow baskets.
They are dark grey.
I would like to paint them white and change the linings.
Is it possible, and what sort of paint should I use?

TIA
ps - I won't be able to get back on-line until after the weekend so apologies for not responding to any replies.
(I am also painting some old furniture and will be using Dulux satinwood for that).

I saw a DIY type show once where they painted some wicker chairs. They used spray paint to get in all the nooks and crannies.

I used water-based emulsion paint from Farrow & Ball with a paint brush and sponge roller. It worked well.
