Doll's clothes patterns?

I would like to make some doll's clothes but I don't want to pay the £7 or so it costs for a pattern. I made a dress from a home made pattern but it was a hit and miss affair. I don't want to buy doll's clothes because I want to use up some of my old scraps of material. I've searched charity shops for ready made clothes to cut up and use as patterns, also for second-hand patterns, to no avail. Any ideas?

I used the dresses that came with my DD doll to make a pattern then adapted it a bit. Then the ungrateful little so and so said that blue and yellow (I thought it was nice and colourful) didn't match and she won't let 'baby' wear it.
Could try knitting: use sizes for prem babies.
Your local library will probably have a book of knitting and dressmaking patterns, but if not will be able to order one in for you.

weird

I was about to start a thread looking for a simple Barbie dress pattern

Easiest one is a tube with shirring elastic round top (and waist if you like) and ribbon shoulder straps...

Or the free pyjama pattern here could lengthen into a dress.
if you knit there are lots more free ones out there - this was the first one I came across.

Thanks for all your help, I think I'll try and adapt the pattern I made earlier. Unfortunately I don't know how to knit, the current craze for knitting has completely passed me by! Maybe I should try and learn because I could make some gorgeous stuff if I made the effort.
