Amigurumi help needed

I'm trying out this pattern but I've not done any amigurumi before. The head (which is supposed to be spherical) has come out more like a patty pan squash as in my pics. I did size up the yarn/hook from 4-ply/2.75mm to DK/3.5mm but I didn't think that would make that much difference.

I tend to be a right hooker anyway and I have consciously crocheted quite tight so as to ensure a good amigurumi structure. Could I be hooking too tightly?

It will be fine once it is firmly stuffed.

You can see from the how-to pictures that theirs was quite hexagonal too before being stuffed, I think you will be fine

Thanks - I went back and had another look and you're right, it's fine now it's stuffed :)
