I'm just looking for a straightforward knee-length skirt in a nice fabric, but I can't find anything in the shops this season. They're either way too short or midi, which tends to be rather unflattering for me at least.
I remembered my Mum used to buy fabric that was already elasticated at one end ('shirred' apparently) and I wondered if I use this to easily run up a skirt - hand-sewed. No machine. I can't find many (erm...maybe just one) outlet that stocks this, and the elasticated area is way too wide for a skirt - more suitable for a dress.
Does anyone know if I'm just looking for the wrong thing? I suppose I could do a dress in the absence of anything else, but the choice of fabric seems stupidly limited.
Oh, and I only have a few days before I go on hols. Nothing like having these brainwaves at the last minute!
Any advice?
