As it Easter school are doing decorate a/multiple boiled egg competition....I need ideas for my son, can anyone please help Thanks

He wanted to do the eggs factor as it was suggested by school but I think lots of other children will do this & he'll be disappointed in his own regardless of how good I tell him it is

  • ladybird (just paint red, then the front part black and add a stripe and spots)
  • I saw someone do a hot air balloon once - painted the egg, glued on cotton which was attached to a bottle cap? (I can't actually remember how they did the basket) and then had a long thin glass that the egg sat on but the basket dangled down inside - I thought that was clever. *bunny add ears, tail etc

A helicopter - my uncle still has the one I made as a kid & won a big contest with hope it never breaks as we would smell it from here

Just lolly pop sticks, but of self dry clay to sit the egg in & attach the lolly "ski" feet, this gives it weight & keeps it upright - lolly stick blades too & bit of card for the tail & grey & white paint etc

Carefully pick some thorns off roses. Glue them on one side of the egg. Draw a little face in felt-tip on the pointier end.

One hedgehog egg! : )

A boy at my primary school was amazing at making models and won the egg competition every year. We didn't even mind, we just liked seeing what he'd made each year!

One good one he did was an airport - egg planes with cardboard wings.

But weirdly, the best one was when he painted the egg as a shiny red fire extinguisher with a cardboard spout thing, and attached it to a diorama type model. It was a model of the wall in our tiny school that had the fire extinguisher on it - all the posters and notice boards were there in detail. It was amazing.

I wonder what that boy's doing now?

Sorry, just had to share that!

Last year one of the dc's won with a rocket ( bottom had broken and buggered if I was going to blow another one- so we pout cotton wool in like smoke).

This year 2 dc's won! with a chicken and a spider on a web, tbh there were far better entries so I think they were judged on if it looked like the child had done it themselves.

Ds once made a soldier. Finger prints of black, green and brown paint all over like camo, googly eyes and action-man's beret.

It was very effective, but he didn't win Grin

Gold paint, add cardboard tail and fins and googly eyes and you have a gold fish. Paint the inside of a shoe box dark blue, on one of the longest sides scrunch blue and white tissue paper to make gravel, use green pipe cleaners to make weeds and maybe add even a fish bowl ornament. Use a toilet roll middle painted dark blue to seemingly suspend the goldfish in the tank and glue pictures of fish to the back wall.Dd won with hers one year and ds won by making eggs into Teletubbies using googly eyes, pipe cleaners and foil for tv screens and the bottom of an egg box for feet.
