as i hardly have time to do all the other jobs i want to do but still....

i was looking at the Debbie Bliss 'how to knit' book in the bookshop. Can someone review it for me? I think I want one....

i'm a beginner but want to learn more skills. is it worth the money?

also, does anyone have a copy they are willing to part with? i've spent way too much money on whims lately.

library?

kiskidee · 17/08/2006 11:33

no, prefer owning my own copy of books i intend to dip in and out of. will buy it second hand if it is any good!

aha, but would getting a library copy let you find out if it's any good?

Sorry, I have a fantastic local library and they're always our first port of call when thinking of a new activity...

see, this is why i like MN. my library isn't fantastic but worth a try. maybe they will order it in.

have a look at this site - it teaches you how to knit really well (i'd try the continental method), costs nothing and is better than a book because you can actually SEE someone do it. they also have lots of free patterns - you're bound to find something you like.

before buying a book i'd also pop along to a bookshop and leaf through what they have first. john lewis is excellent because they have the wool there too, so can get the book and knitting supplies in one go.

well mrs badg, it is down to you. Dd (16 mo) and I joined the library today. I borrowed a debbie bliss knitting book (not the one mentioned below) already spied a little project to attempt.

dd was so excited to sit at a little table and colour she leaned forward to get to a little desk and clunked her forehead against it. now has a fat bruise to show for it.
