HELP! curtain making - can't get eyelet rings on!

I'm making curtains for dd's room. I've bought eyelet tape and rings from dunelm mill.

I've sewn the eyelet tape on, cut a hole for the eyelet but now I can't get the eyelets to snap on! :(

What's the secret?

Ouch!

Sore thumbs but pliers seem to work.

The fabric does slightly pucker a little but think that it won't be at all noticeable once they're hung.

I just laid mine flat on the table and leaned on them so to speak.

Is the curtain material thick? Mine definitely didn't pucker.

Maybe you have a faulty batch of rings can you open another pack and see?

It might vary store to store but my Dunelm Mill people are very helpful. Could you take the curtains in and get their help? After all they are selling these things and technically if it isn't working then it can't be fit for purpose.

It's not terribly thick - for curtains it's probably fairly standard.

I've managed to get it done with pliers - or at least started. I've done 5 and have 15 left to go.

They weren't super helpful or knowledgeable when I bought to stuff so not sure they'd be much help. Confused

Try getting something flat like a heavy hardcover book, placing it on top of eyelet and then leaning on it. Will even out the pressure and be less painful for hands.

Just realised how old thread was and i'm sure curtains are finished by now.
