I just posted this in the property forum by mistake Blush
What would be the best clay for a 6 YO? I find FIMO really tough.

I remember DAS from when I was a kid.

At that age I would actually go for paper mâché or salt dough rather than clay, much more durable when finished, especially if you glaze it with PVA or Modge Podge - as you can bet your life they will want to play with whatever they make & it will be smashed and & tears.

There is a foam clay though, DD has brought stuff home from school she has made in school art clubs, I've not yet been able to find out what its called though, but it moulds like clay & dries almost like polystyrene foam, much lighter & more durable than clay

Try Super Clay from yellowmoon.co.uk or elsewhere. It's really soft and pliable, great colours, easy to mix and sticks to itself really well (great for putting on legs, arms etc). Air dries overnight to a soft lightweight permanent model.
