Not sure this is correct place but I'm sure someone can help.

Going to a dirty dancing vs grease tribute night and need to dress up. Friend going as baby in her last dance, her birthday so she's allowed and I will be there.

She bought a dress online but it's hideous so has gone back so we going to make one but don't know where to start - any ideas?

Also what can I wear???

A Grease mechanic? A white boiler suit from B&Q with lightning on the back, boots, a wrench, slicked hair, shoe polish on your face, etc. Done.

Wear boiler suits at work so wouldn't mind a wee change for a night out but thanks for idea will keep it in mind

First of all, can either of you sew?
Secondly, body shape. Who want's to be sewn into skin tight leggings? It's a party (you'll need to pee).

Anyway, think 50s off the shoulder/showing neck. Tight bodice and a full skirt. The 50s petticoats are not worth making (unless you want too). Or go for the totally fitted look (slim/pencil skirt with slit or pleat).

I do need some idea of your sizes to point you in the right direction (mainly because true vintage patterns are very small).

Harbinger my friend has bought something online and is a petit size 6. I however am a giant in comparison (size 14 and 5'11"). Thinking I might try 50's look and go for a circle skirt with ponytail, necktie, white top and ankle socks & trainers. Should be easy enough to find accessories and I should be able to make a circle skirt easily. Hopeless with fabric though, Internet suggests felt so will try that. Does that sound ok?

OP how about black Capri pants, with pink heels, black shirt with collar up and a pink satin jacket with pink ladies ironed on?

Felt is very expensive and you would need a lot for a circular skirt.
