Dressmaking query

Making a short skirt with a flounce.

The instructions say to notch the flounce then attach to main skirt. Should I have notched or clipped the main skirt too or is it just a matter of easing it together?

Sounds as though you should just notch the flounce to ease it onto the straighter skirt part. I would machine a line of stitching around the flounce just inside the seam allowance and cut up to that - not sure what fabric you're using but it would stop potential fraying problems and possibly help the flounce to fit more evenly.

Crikey, haven't done any dressmaking for years - all I seem to make now are curtains.

Its my "toile" so just a plain cotton. I did a line of stitching to stop the flounce distorting then notched up to that as you said - the skirt was almost A line shape I think it worked (I will find out when I go back to class!)

Ive tried it with boots it looks OK
