Reversable Drawstring bags, 10cm square, sewing pattern anyone?

I agreed to undertake "a littel sewing job" for ds1's teaching assistant and it turns out to be 30, yes 30, reversible drawstring bags for her adult netball team to keep their referee bags in (they take their netball VERY seriously over here).

I can't work out away to batch sew 30 of the *&(&ers without getting tangled up with the drawstring channel. Has anyone else done anything like this? Can anyone throw me a bone?

TIA

I rather like that...elusive moo...sounds like a very exclusive perfume.

Oh I haven't got a bloody clue, btw - about the bags. I couldn't make one without sewing myself into it or breaking the machine...

MrsBadger · 28/07/2006 14:28

I wouldn't turn the channel over, iyswim - would just make the bag and run a line of stitching 1 inch from the mouth of the bag to make a tube, then open up the seam on one side and feed the cord through between the inner and outer layers. (not explained very well I know)

suzywong · 28/07/2006 14:34

you think?

would that leave me with a lot of faffing around neatening off the aperture for the string IYSWIM

I think you're right, an extra channel on top of the body of the bag is too fiddly

How would I make them reversable though? Sew RS tog round three sides, turn inside out, sew up remaining side on RS and then fold in half and sew two side seams and then do the 1cm in stitching line for the drawstring, or is that too faffy, is there an easier way,

I f I hadn't already presented myself as such a nice suburban mummy I would say " bog off you cheeky mare, 30? Are you having a Larf?" But it's too late now, she thinks I 'm nice

I've got it!
Mrs B you have made my brain work

I will cut a rectangle of the inside fabric 2.5 cm smaller than main outer fabric at the top and bottom
Sew up the side seams through both layers of fabric, turn inside out, fold over drawstring channel out of the main fabric, stich that and the loose edge of the inner fabric and leave one seam open.
Genuis, thanks for the inspiration

She canthread the blimming drawstrings herself though

That's what I'd do, anyway.
