Does anyone know a shop in Central London with a decent range of Hama Bead supplies? Thanks.

Last time I went to Hamleys they had loads.

The Entertainer in Stratford has a good range. Ikea's own version are interchangeable. I usually get mine online, I live in central London.

John Lewis normally have a good selection too. The craft section rather than the toy section at our local one.

The Ikea beads are great value.

Actually (hama bead freak here), you can melt the hama beads in the oven and then make bracelets out of them, they kind of look like the links of london sweetie bracelet, but in coloured plastic!

I have that project pinned on one of my Pinterest boards :)

Wow - thanks everyone. This is brilliant. I will try John Lewis and Hamleys first.

:-) on my pintrest board also! Some of the Christmas decorations eere awesome... I look and lust, but never actually progress forward much.

I did the sweetie bracelet. About a 50% success rate with each bead to make it threadable. It's all in the placement on the oven tray :-)

And therein lies the problem... I have a fan oven. I seem to remember the blog I read had issues with them blowing over.

Have you seen the melted Hama bead bowls?

imip · 10/01/2014 19:25

Yes, the fan forced oven seems to be the root of my poor success rate,

Have seen the bowls. I have 4dds 7 and under and I imagine that the bowls would break easily and they would be devastated (crushing what is left of my sanity in the post-Christmas haze). Have you tried them? Can you confirm my suspicions.

There is a cool Danish designer called Rie Elise Larson. She does some cool things with hama beads, makes Christmas baubles but doesn't heat them. Google her youtube tutorials, she is pretty clever!
