I'm rippling and I love it

My DD requested a blanket for her bed, so I went out looking for a pattern. I liked Lucy's ripple blanket on Attic 24. Last week the gorgeous stash of Debbie Bliss baby cashmerio arrived ( not a cheap option, but it will be an heirloom).
I started yesterday four blues and a cream darker to lighter to darker again.
Only on row 7 and I am in love. It is so lovely, rippling water was the effect I was going for and already I can see it.

Lonecat, I am green with envy at your parcel of debbie bliss!

I have been wanting to start a new blanket project and the idea of buying a bucket load of lovely wool....Envy

lonecat I am Envy . I have had that saved for ages but every attempt to learn crochet has ended in a messy disaster. Maybe a photo when you are finished for us to drool over?Smile

It could be months I have go for the full 227 stitch chain, but yes once it's done I will post.

How much wool are you expecting to use Lonecat?

.....looking at deramores and filling the basket!!!

Lonecatwithkitten · 06/01/2014 21:15

Lucy used 29 balls so that's what I went for. It seems to be consistent across all her ripple blankets.

Tobermory PM me I have a 15% off discount voucher for loveknitting and currently DB baby cashmerio is cheaper there and of course with 15% discount that would make it even betterGrin.

That sounds lovely, working with beautiful yarn and a nice hook makes crocheting even better.

Ohwhatfuckeryisthis · 06/01/2014 21:52

Shit shit shit. May have accidentally pressed report-fat fingers- everyone if I did please ignore. Blush

You'll caused hilarity at HQ - something to report on arts and crafts thread are they throwing wool at each other?

lonecat
If you are gonna start throwing wool please throw it my way!
I love Debbie Bliss!!! I am so jealous. Can't wait to see a pic, it sounds fab.

craftynclothy · 07/01/2014 16:16

Envy Would love to be able to make one from the cashmerino

awaywego1 · 09/01/2014 09:18

I've just started rippling a small baby blanket in blues and love it so much that I'm now planning a bluey greeney sea coloured full size for myself..I'm just wondering what the best reasonably priced wool would be..should I stick with style craft dk or use some 100% cotton? am browsing on wool warehouse at the moment Grin

awaywego1 · 09/01/2014 09:21

also (sorry for crashing your thread op) could I mix say drops cotton light with stylecraft dk or would that not work?

SoupDragon · 09/01/2014 10:31

I don't think it would work as they're completely different textures of yarn. Unless that is the kind of look you're after but even then they may wash and wear differently due to the different fibre content.

SoupDragon · 09/01/2014 10:34

If you're on Wool Warehouse, have a look at the Drops merinos if you wanted something more special than Stylecraft (although you can't beat that for practicality TBH!)

awaywego1 · 09/01/2014 10:39

thanks soup..its mainly because one of the blues I'm after is out of stock but I can see that it might be a bit weird Grin and given that I've never made a blanket before I might try and keep it simple!

awaywego1 · 09/01/2014 10:43

that drops merino is lovely and has great blues and greens but will end up much more expensive than the style craft... decisions...

SoupDragon · 09/01/2014 10:43

Have you checked Deramores? Masons and Country Crafts are 2 other Stylecraft stockists I can remember off the top of my head.

SoupDragon · 09/01/2014 10:45

It is more expensive, but it's a cheaper option to the Debbie Bliss :)

awaywego1 · 09/01/2014 10:48

will check the other places-good idea!
if I had my way I'd crochet everything out of Debbie bliss Andes but my bank balance disagrees Wink

SoupDragon · 09/01/2014 17:48

All I hear from my bank balance is yadda yadda yadda yadda Wink
