You can cook roast potatoes in advance and reheat - advice from Mary Berry no less! Xmas Grin

Jamie Oliver's just been on the radio talking about doing just this. He mentioned making the gravy now and doing roasted carrots in advance too.

we DH makes the gravy the day before using giblets. It's lovely and takes away one of the last minute, labour intensive jobs. Mind you, so do Bisto granules!

Cauliflower cheese done, in fridge ready for cooking through. Red cabbage done ( made with Apple & nutmeg) all stuffings done, need to cook. Pots peeled, carrots peeled, sprouts peeled.
Table set, dishes & plates ready. Wine cooling.
Puddings ready.

Mil cooks the turkey the day before. Which would be okay, but it gets served c

Sorry-gets served cold with hot everything else. Is it me, or is that unusual?

MerryBuddha · 24/12/2013 22:54

I alway make and cook off the Yorkshire puddings and then freeze them until needed!

We have both Turkey and ham for our Christmas meal, so I have already cooked off the Honey glazed ham tonight.

I have also made a vegan alternative, which is ready to go in the oven and cook for 20 minutes but made from scratch tonight..

I will also cook off the turkey early and keep warm under foil and towels in the morning!

For the first time we had Christmas dinner at five. It was a revelation! The prep took place gently through the day, turkey on at half one. We had toasted sandwiches for lunch!
