Sewing machine says 'no' ...

I have a new sewing machine and have threaded it up, put the bobbin in etc. It's all set to go. I press the foot pedal, can hear the motor at work but the machine does nothing. No needle moving up and down, no stitching, nothing ... Sad I know there must be a stage in setting it up that I've missed out, but as you've probably guessed I'm very inexperienced and have run out of ideas as to what might solve the problem. Any advice would be very much appreciated! [hopeful face]

Is the pressed foot in the down position?

have you released the bobbin switch? My Pfaff has a wheel i have to turn so the needle does not move when refilling the bobbin?

Is the bobbin in the sewing position, rather than the threading position? I've done this!

PlanetEarthIsBlue · 14/12/2013 13:16

Yes the presser foot is down. I'll check the bobbin again - I'm not aware of there being a bobbin switch, but that could be the very thing I've missed! Will also check the position of the bobbin. Thank you all for taking the time to reply. I have a feeling I could become a regular here, looking for advice! Smile
